Getting a little more than irritated...
I don't know why, but all of a sudden Dr. Rustia has just been being an ass. I mean, yea I understand that unnecessary testing shouldn't be done, but when a child's been sick on and off for more than six months, I don't think asking for further testing is unreasonable. So whatever, tell me no. Ryder ended up in the ER not once, but twice in a matter of a few days and I was told, more than once throughout the night, that he should have a GI consult. Yea, nothing may come of it, but maybe we can identify the problem. Hell, it COULD be as simple as something he's eating or not eating and needs to have. *shrug* Who knows at this point in time, but I'm just sick and tired of dealing with it and seeing my child in pain.
So Yes, I finally got my way today when I basically steamrolled Dr. Rustia and told him what the ER said. He finally agreed and we have blood testing on Wednesday and then he's going to be scheduling an Upper GI test and we have a referral into a GI specialist at Aurora. Okay, so it's not Children's, but at least it's something. And as a last resort, if I don't like how Aurora's treating him, I'm sure I can get into Children's any time I want to. It's not like it's not an option further down the road. I'd rather not burn bridges if something can be done and the doctor is finally willing to work with me and not ignore me. (I'm STILL really pissed off that he started talking to mom instead of me, but I'll get over it if he's willing to do more testing to get to the bottom of this problem.)
Bottom line - he finally agrees that there needs to be something done. YAY. I said that two freakin' weeks ago. If he would have listened then maybe we wouldn't have ended up in the ER, but who knows. At least something is getting done now.
I feel like I've accomplished something today. That's a start, eh?
